Bank-Financed Car Insurance in UAE
If your car has a bank loan or mortgage, confirm the lender's insurance requirements before accepting a quotation. For high-value vehicles, check both the insured value and the repair and settlement terms.
Confirm what your bank requires
Ask the lender which cover level, bank-interest wording and documents it requires. Comprehensive cover is commonly requested for financed vehicles, but requirements depend on the lender and agreement. Provide the bank's exact name for any required endorsement.
Loan balance is not automatically insured value
Agree the vehicle's valuation basis with the insurer. Do not use the remaining loan balance as a substitute for the car's assessed value. A total-loss settlement follows the policy; it may leave a finance shortfall, which is not automatically covered by standard motor insurance.
High-value and coupe vehicles
Premium, sports and coupe vehicles may require additional underwriting, valuation or an inspection. Confirm agency repair eligibility, driver restrictions, excess, factory options and declared modifications on the written offer.
At renewal or after a finance change
Review the car's current value and repair eligibility at renewal. If you refinance or repay the loan, ask the lender and insurer whether the recorded bank interest must be updated or released; do not assume it changes automatically.
Documents usually required
- Emirates ID (front and back)

Individual insurers may ask for additional documents depending on the vehicle and driver profile.

General policy references do not confirm acceptance of a specific vehicle. Your insurer's schedule and terms apply.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use third party insurance on a bank-financed car?
Third party is the minimum liability cover, but it may not satisfy your lender. Obtain the bank's requirements before purchasing a policy.
Will insurance clear my car loan after a total loss?
Not necessarily. Settlement is calculated under the policy terms and may differ from the outstanding finance. Ask how a shortfall would be handled.
Can I arrange high-value financed car insurance online?
You can submit an enquiry online. Final terms and issuance depend on the insurer's review, documents and any inspection or valuation required.
