How much does car insurance cost in the UAE?

Written by the Dubai Motor Insure editorial team · Last updated 10 September 2026

There is no fixed price. UAE motor insurance is individually rated, so the premium depends on the vehicle, the driver and the cover selected. The only accurate figure for your car is a quotation issued against your actual details.

In more detail

Comprehensive premiums are commonly calculated as a percentage of the vehicle's current market value, with a minimum amount applied, while third party liability is more often quoted from a tariff band based on vehicle type and engine size. Both approaches are then adjusted for the driver.

We do not publish indicative prices on this website, because a figure that is not based on your chassis number, licence history and claims record would be misleading rather than helpful.

Conditions and exceptions

  • Factors typically used: vehicle value, make, model and year, driver age, years of UAE licence held, claims and no-claim history, cover type, excess selected, and whether agency repair is included.
  • Each insurer weights these differently, so the same vehicle and driver can attract materially different premiums.

Important: The information on this page is general guidance about motor insurance in the UAE and is not a policy document or a guarantee of cover. Cover, benefits, exclusions, excess amounts and pricing differ between insurers and depend on your vehicle, driver profile and the policy wording issued to you. Always read the policy schedule and terms issued by the insurer before purchasing.
