Salvage & Rebuilt Car Insurance in UAE
A salvage or rebuilt record describes a vehicle's history, not a promise that it can be registered or insured in the UAE. Check the specific vehicle with the relevant authority and insurer before buying or relying on cover.
Accident damage, salvage and rebuilt are different
A repaired accident does not by itself establish a salvage title. Salvage and rebuilt classifications come from the origin market's records. Obtain the chassis history and original documents; do not describe a car as clean-title solely because it has been repaired.
Registration eligibility comes first
Ask the competent UAE authority about import and registration eligibility for the exact chassis and history. An insurance quotation does not override an import restriction, failed inspection or registration requirement. We do not claim every salvage-history vehicle is eligible.
Disclose history when requesting insurance
Provide auction or title records, known flood/fire/accident damage, repair reports and current photographs. The insurer may request an inspection, decline the vehicle or offer restricted terms. Comprehensive acceptance is not guaranteed; a third party policy does not repair your own car.
Check the written offer
- Confirm the recorded specification and repair history are disclosed.
- Check insured value, repair network, excess and pre-existing damage exclusions.
- Confirm cover start date and registration eligibility before driving.
Documents usually required
- Chassis/VIN and original title or auction records

Individual insurers may ask for additional documents depending on the vehicle and driver profile.
Policy references
General policy references do not confirm acceptance of a specific vehicle. Your insurer's schedule and terms apply.
Frequently asked questions
Can a salvage-history car get comprehensive insurance in the UAE?
Only the insurer can confirm for the specific vehicle after reviewing its history and eligibility. Some cases may be declined or restricted; there is no guaranteed acceptance.
Does a UAE registration card erase a previous salvage record?
No. Disclose the known original-market history when requesting cover, even if the vehicle has been repaired or registered.
Can I insure flood-damaged or rebuilt imports?
Check current import and registration eligibility with the relevant authority, then ask an insurer to review the complete history. Do not assume repairs make the vehicle eligible or covered.
Important: The information on this page is general guidance about motor insurance in the UAE and is not a policy document or a guarantee of cover. Cover, benefits, exclusions, excess amounts and pricing differ between insurers and depend on your vehicle, driver profile and the policy wording issued to you.
